Anon - I'm taking 17 credits this semester, so I don't have a lot of free time, but I'll definitely put that hair on my to do list.

  11. Reis... this can't be your first hair. You made hairs before... as another creator :) I just wanna say that this is awesome work, and I'm extremely curious to know who you were before ;)

  14. @ Shyne
Nope, this is my first Sims upload, I swear! I have meshing experience from working on non-Sims related stuff, though.

    @ anon
Converting that Raon hair shouldn't be a problem, it looks like a pretty easy mesh to work with.

  15. Wow, you are amazing! How could you have done this, and it be your first one? But I believe you! Haha!

I really like the hair and as someone said above, it does look better than the original.

  16. Reis, my email is ShyneInnocence@hotmail.com - please email me and tell me what 3D program you use. I currently use Blender, but I can't get the meshes to carry over into Milkshape properly.

  18. @ LexieTanium

Thanks! I’ve converted hair, and I’ve made object meshes, but I’ve never made my own hair meshes, so I’m afraid I don’t have a lot of advice to give about it. Sorry. I can say that if you keep your layers in proper order while you're meshing, it'll save you a lot of trouble with transparency issues later on.

If you need any help converting an already existing mesh, or if you end up having problems with your finished mesh (i.e. it's not displaying properly in game or something), I might be able to help a bit more.

  19. Thank you very much Reis! This is a wonderful conversion and texturing! I hope to see more of your work!

Do you, by any chance, know how to convert it for female too? If so, may I ask if you can do it?

  21. Hi again Reis. I read that you might consider taking conversion requests after you're done with your busy months. If so, I'll leave this link for you if you're interested.

    http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=212578

So far I've seen NO ONE doing conversions of these straight, simple yet beautiful hair styles. Even the creator wrote that the mesh may be used and modified anytime as long as credits are given, so I don't see any reason not to.

I think I've seen one conversion though, but it was very mediocre that it isn't worth it unfortunately (similar to the other person who converted this Butterfly Sims hair you did here).

Anyway, I've tried asking this to many and requesting it on some sites, but to no avail. I hope you'll consider my request when you have the time.

  26. Thank you so much!! Have you ever considered converting to sims 2?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm not going to do any Sims 2 stuff. I haven't played it in years, I'm not sure if I even still have the games at this point.

If you're talking about this hair specifically, it was a Sims 2 hair to start out with. You can download the original here . It's the file called "malehair0012.zip," down at the bottom of the list.

    1. I just double checked, and all the download links are working fine on my end. Can you be more specific about the problem you're having? Do the download sites refuse to load? Does it tell you that the files are missing? Are you getting an error message when you try to extract the file...?

  30. How do you put this into sims3?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi Reis :) I really love your work here, but I'm having some trouble installing it. I've looked up tutorials on how to install .package files (and most of them are the same), and I do follow them precisely, but when I open up my game, the downloads don't show. I'd really love for my male sims to have this hairstyle, so do you have any helpful advice?

    1. Unfortunately, there's only one program that makes .sims3packs, and it crashes every time I run this hair through it, so the .package version is the only one I can offer right now.

As for getting package files to work, make sure your game is completely updated with the latest patch, and double check that your package folder is in the right place (in "my documents," not "program files"). Maybe try downloading a new resource.cfg file - a couple of patches have changed things around so the file needs to be updated, and depending on where you downloaded it from you might have an outdated version. I know the one from Mod The Sims is up to date.

  32. how to do i change the zip file to be on the game?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right click on the zip file, and choose "extract all." That will give you a .package file, which you should put in the packages folder. If you've never installed .package files before, just follow the instructions here - http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Sims_3:Installing_Package_Files

  34. I love this hair! I can't use it though... I've gone through the tutorials and did everything right but .package files still won't show up in my game... I need a .sim3pack file...

  35. Thank you for these! Love the detail!
